Chairman’s Report December 2009

It has been a tough year for the branch. The economic climate has effected us as well as everyone else, but we have managed to keep going and were able to provide an interesting programme through the year thanks to the generosity of local speakers, who give up their time to provide their services free, and to the sponsorship of Clerical Medical International and Ramsey Crookall; I am very grateful to Dean Waddingham and Joanna Crookall for their continued support.

When I took office I wanted changes made to the Chartered Management Institute Manx Executive Challenge so that it became more aligned to the Chartered Management Institute, was more closely linked to the courses provided for the Institute by the International Business School and, most importantly, the participants came away with something official and meaningful which proved that their time spent on the Challenge was a step to furthering their management career and which would have some credence on their CV. Ann Clayton, who manages the Challenge on behalf of the branch, has done a brilliant job in turning those ideas into reality and the current group of participants are the first to benefit. The Challenge Final is on the CMI 2010 programme for May and I hope that you will all attend and show your support.

The programme I have devised for 2010 covers a diverse range of subjects presented by some well known and professional people on the Island.

I look forward to catching up with you all in 2010.
